2010 block population data illustrates the distribution of major population sub-groups across the 50 wards prior to ward boundary adjustments
The same data are shown but only for the six wards that are the subject of the “game.”
Target population for each ward is 53,912
Between 2000 and 2010, total population in the six ward area fell by 10,000, or 3%. This compares
with a citywide loss of 6.9%
No majority group in 2010 but area of 2nd Ward must be
reduced in order to decrease the population by 15,455 people
African American clearly the majority group in 2010 but area
of 3rd Ward must be increased to increase the total population by 13,406
African American clearly the majority group in 2010 but area
of 4th Ward must be increased to increase the total population by 4,717
